Google finally released Android 4.4 Kitkat in Nexus 5. This Kitkat update brings some visual changes as well as deeper integration with Google's intelligent assistant.

Top new features of Android 4.4 Kitkat:

1.New Dialler, Caller ID: The new phone app will automatically give priorities to those contacts users talk most. If user gets a call from a unknown contact the phone will search for matches via Google Maps.

2.Unified Hangouts messaging App: The new OS brings a new unified messaging app with Hangouts to get SMS and MMS. Hangouts offers instant messaging with Googe accounts.

3.Screen recording: Android 4.4 offers support for screen recording, and includes a screen recording utility that lets users capture video as they use the device and store it as an MP4 file. This will help developers, reviewers.

4.Better User Interface: Applications and games can now use the entirety of the display with 4.4, meaning no more notifications bar and no more battery icon. Just full screen applications and games. Android’s UI now stays hidden whenever you’re interacting with content.

5. Performance: This is the best, Android 4.4 will run on devices with just 512MB of RAM. KitKat  reduces memory use and introduces new APIs and tools to help developers create more memory-efficient applications.

6. Cloud Printing: Users will now be able to print photos, documents, and web pages from their phone or tablet through any printer connected to Google Cloud Print, HP ePrint printers, and via other printers that have apps in the Google Play Store.

7.Bluetooth MAP support: Android now supports the Message Access Profile (MAP) so Bluetooth-enabled cars can exchange messages with your devices.

8.Infrared blasting: On devices with an infrared (IR) blaster, Android now supports applications for remote control of TVs and other nearby devices.

9.Sensors:Just say “Ok Google”. You don’t need to touch the screen to get things done. When on your home screen* or in Google Now, just say “Ok Google” to launch voice search, send a text, get directions or even play a song.

So, these were the most exciting features of the new OS. Google's Nexus 5 is already being shipped with Android 4.4, KitKat, and the OS will soon be available on the Nexus 4, Nexus 7, Nexus 10, the Samsung Galaxy S4 and HTC One Google Play edition devices in the coming weeks.
